Red, Part 4 - Something Resembling Steel

"Fare-thee-well sweet prince," came Stevens' voice from every direction simultaneously. "Enjoy the Trip. You won't enjoy the destination I'm afraid". His habitual sneer seemed to be replaced by sadness at the end of his little speech..

Before I could think about that, however, the capsule accelerated like a bullet in the powerful magnetic field now surrounding it. The Red filling me turned to something resembling steel as it reinforced me internally and the capsule, in maglev mode, passed into a tunnel evacuated of air. Moving ballistically at 15,000 kph I let the Red massage my muscles. We may be built to withstand high accelerations but, unassisted, none of us could take the 750g I'd just been through. I was sore.

Infinite Mall #12

The Illusion

In desperation turn round, hope to find
The mall again, the comforting illusion
Of self-control, of a place that is kind
Where we can have what we want, with options

Infinite Mall #11

The Ocean

And down below Ocean battles Land
Plumes of white rise, crash on rocks like razors
Drain from slimy black stones, journey to sand
To a sea, dull dark grey that rages and flows

Connection #6 - King Alfonso VIII to Urraca of León and Castile

ALFONSO VIII., king of Castile and Leon, styled the Emperor. At the death of his mother, Queen Urraca, he became king in 1126. The misrule of that princess's government, and the wars which had devastated Castile during the latter part of the preceding reign, rendered the beginning of his own very stormy. Several places were held by his step-father, Alfonso VII., until they were subdued, but at last the two princes were reconciled, and Alfonso VIII. remained sovereign lord of Castile and Leon. About the year 1137 he was obliged to march an army into Galicia against the Count of Portugal, Alfonso Henriquez. Though the Portuguese had the advantage, Heuriquez Bued for peace, which Alfonso readily granted.
Iu 1140 he attempted to conquer Navarre, but failed. In his wars with the infidels, Alfonso was more successful. He obtained many signal victories over them, and advanced the Castilian frontiers to Andalusia, His last battle against the Almohades was undecisive; after which he returned towards Toledo, and died in his tent in August, 1157. At the close of his reign, the military order of Alcantara, to which Christian Spain owed so much, was instituted. He was succeeded in Castile by Sancho IIL, and in Leou by Fernando II.

p. 140
Note, The day is divided into twelve equal parts, called Planetary Hours, reckoning from sun-rise to sun-set, and, again, from the setting to the rising; and to find the planetary hour, you need but to divide the natural hours by twelve, and the quotient gives the length of the planetary hours and odd minuets, which shews you how long a spirit bears rule in that day. as Michael governs the first and the eighth hour on Sunday, as does the ☉. After you have the length of the first hour, you have only to look in the Table, as if it be the fourth hour, on Sunday, you see in the Table that the ☽ and Gabriel rules; and so for the rest it being so plain and easy you cannot err.

♀ Gabriel

Old Gabriel was well pleased with his son's marriage. She had no dowry, it is true, like his own wife, but she was a comely woman, healthy and strong, and had shown so dutiful an affection for her mother, that when the old woman was dead, Gabriel bade his son make preparations for his marriage, that as soon as a decent time of mourning was over, she might become his wife.

♄ Sachiel

Sachiel (サキエル Sakieru?)[7], the third Angel, is the first Angel to attack Tokyo-3. It is a massive, humanoid creature with large bony structures on its shoulders and torso, gill-like structures on its legs, tridactyl hands, and a distinctive beaked face (a second face, behind and slightly to the side of the first one, is generated after an N² bomb is dropped on the Angel). It has a powerful long-range energy blast, which distinctly forms a Christian cross on detonation, and two sharp spikes which slide through its arms and extend through holes in its palms as striking weapons (when retracted, the spikes extend from the Angel's elbows) Its core is located prominently on its chest.
